Happy Friday the 13th everyone!

We’re heating all the way up to 98° this afternoon. You’re definitely going to feel it too when you step outside thanks to the dewpoint near 70.

High 96°, as humid as yesterday was, with a few late-afternoon pop-up showers and storms possible.
Below is one model, the HRRR. Pretty sure showers/storms will pop up this afternoon and last until the sun goes down. We don’t know exactly where or when, so be flexible.

You’re probably going to feel like this ice cream cone as you step outside this afternoon. Another hot and nasty day ahead of us today, high of 98°. Yes, you read that right, not a typo.
Dewpoints around 70° won’t give us any relief along with the almost triple digit air temperatures, allowing our heat index to climb above 100° this afternoon.
Very hot conditions will persist across the area this afternoon with temperatures staying around 96 degrees. Dew points are in the mid 60’s which is making it feel a tad sticky out there, with heat index readings near 100. This is not as oppressive as we have seen at times this summer, but it is still quite hot.
For the second week of September, it is going to be quite hot – so bear with me. Summer will eventually end, just not this week.
EDITOR’S NOTE:

We will be reaching into the mid 90°s for our high today. Bleh. Thankfully dewpoints are in the low 60°s.
Today will be like yesterday. A bit hotter, closer to 90°. Clouds may roll in this afternoon, but no rain.
Alert radar watchers may see rain coming down I-24 this afternoon. Expect it to nerf before it gets here, except maybe provide clouds. The HRRR model illustrates this:
At 8:25 AM, BNA’s temp was 68°, dewpoint 63°. Last night, a north breeze blew in drier air, so today we get a slight break in humidity, with a high temp around the mid 80°s. No rain, no problems.
Another hot and humid one in store for us today to end off the work week.
We’ll be up to a toasty 90° this afternoon for the high. Dewpoint values continually get higher as the day goes on, reaching up to near 70° by later this evening while everyone is out enjoying some Friday night football.
The smell of corn dogs got caught in the lunchtime air in the Gulch.

Possible it was just me, and I was smelling a mix of construction stench, bachelorette boots, my upper lip, scooter tires, and restaurant exhaust. That this combination makes a corn dog smell is either a local/personal olfactory indictment or some pedal taverner features a corn dog and whiskey cruise which sounds amazing.
As of 8:12 AM, you can see some valley fog! It is very apparent to our east along the Appalachians. You can also see temperatures (in red) and dew points (in green.)

Any fog should mix out as the sun heats up the surface and convection begins for the day.
