Spring and Summer in One Week

The biggest weather story for Davidson and Williamson is how dry it stays — and that summer is finally knocking on the door.

Today and Tonight

Sunny, high near 80, with barely a breath of wind out of the southeast. A genuinely nice May day. Tonight drops to around 58 under mostly clear skies.

Wednesday — a tiny rain chance, mostly east of I-65

A weak cold front slides through late tonight into Wednesday morning. NWS-Nashville’s framing is honest about how underwhelming it is:

Low chance of a shower or storm Wednesday east of I-65. No severe expected.

Above is the HRRR fro Wednesday afternoon. You can see that most of us won’t see a drop. Rainfall totals stay under a quarter inch where anything falls at all. Not what the drought needs. Otherwise Wednesday is sunny with a high near 81 and a west wind 10 to 15 mph, gusting to 25. Wednesday night clears out and cools to around 52, with a north wind keeping things crisp.

Thursday and Friday — seasonal and dry

Behind the front, Thursday is the cool day of the week: sunny, high near 73, light north wind. Thursday night drops to 50.

Friday warms back up to around 83 with a south breeze. There’s an 8% PoP on the books, climbing to 11% Friday night — which is forecaster-speak for “probably not, but we’re leaving the door cracked.” The Euro and GFS are in better agreement this morning that a shower or storm could squeeze out Friday night, but it isn’t much.

Hello, 90s.

We can’t keep it out any longer. Our last 90-degree day was September 21st, 2025. As NWS-Nashville put it: Summer’s acomin’. If you’ve been easing into warm weather, this is your heads-up to dust off the hot-weather routine — water, shade, and a plan for outdoor work or sports in the afternoon heat.

Drought

NWS-Nashville is flagging that the drought continues with very little rainfall expected through about this time next week. Two tiny rain chances — Wednesday and Friday night — and neither one is a real soaker. Keep that in mind if you’ve got a garden, new sod, or anything else that’s been thirsty. Enjoy!
