More Sunny Days

TLDR: A beautiful Thursday afternoon and a cool night, then we warm up fast into the weekend. No real rain on the table.

This afternoon and tonight

Sunny and 73 with a north wind around 10. NWS-Nashville notes low humidity and some gusts along and east of I-65 today, which brings marginal fire weather conditions through late afternoon — be careful with anything that sparks outdoors. Drought is still ongoing.

Unc calls it good sleeping weather. Enjoy.

Friday

Mostly sunny and 81. South wind picks up but stays modest. A nice day. Rain chances overnight are slim — a 20% shot at a stray shower after 1 a.m., nothing to plan around.

Saturday — a small wrinkle

Partly sunny, breezy, and 87 with south gusts to 25 mph. There’s a low chance of a shower or storm north of I-40 — NWS-Nashville’s words — mainly in the morning into early afternoon. PoP tops out around 20%. If you’re outside Saturday, just keep half an eye on the sky; this isn’t a severe setup. SPC has general (non-severe) thunder in the picture for the broader region.

Sunday and into next week

Summer makes an early cameo. Sunny and 90 Sunday, with continued south winds. NWS-Nashville is flagging highs in the low 90s west of the Plateau Sunday into early next week — roughly 10 degrees above normal for mid-May. Deep-layer ridging builds in and keeps us mostly dry. Appreciable rain chances don’t return until the middle of next week, and even those depend on how stubborn the ridge to our southeast stays.
