Rain expected as early as late Thursday night but is most likely during the pre-dawn hours Friday morning. Expect about a half-inch of rain. Should depart before lunch, if not sooner.
Last night we saw several strong and severe storms move through the area. One could have contained a Tornado. There is a report of damage happening near Highway 396 (Saturn Parkway) in Spring Hill, and we’ll wait to see if NWS sends a crew out to survey it, and if so what damage they see.
Today, a low pressure center will pass to our north, bringing showers and some storms this afternoon/evening and then cold weather tomorrow.
We’ve got a warm, south wind this morning bringing warm, moist air up and into the Nashville area. This is the energy storms will use later this afternoon. SPC has placed us within a Slight (2 out of 5) Area for Severe weather today.
We saw some rain this morning and we may not be done. On and off showers are possible across Williamson and Davidson Counties this afternoon as we stay locked in under overcast skies.
You should still expect high temperatures to reach the low to mid-70s prior to sunset. The only type of jacket you may need today is a rain jacket. Overnight low will be in the upper-50s.
Today’s our last day of dry, sunny skies until Sunday. It’ll be breezy today, with a few gusts of 10-20 mph possible in the afternoon.
Afternoon high will try to reach mid 70°s, but some overhead clouds could keep us a degree or two cooler this afternoon.
Today is shaping up to be another picture-perfect day in Nashville with the greenery beginning to bloom and the yellow-ery collecting on our cars.
No issues today weather wise; expect a high in the middle to upper 60s. Cloud cover will not be an issue either. GFS shows us clear for the rest of the day:
Cooler weather paid us a visit this morning. Temps were in the upper 30s when we walked out the door. We will remain on the cooler side today, high temps will hover in the mid 50°s.
Why the return of cooler weather? A high pressure bubble has settled right over the Ohio River Valley. Clockwise winds around the high are pushing cooler temps from the northeast down into Middle Tennessee.
Those pesky showers from this morning are almost done. The HRRR model suggests a few more may be possible just before sunset in Williamson and Davidson Counties.
Aside from the rain, expect temperatures this afternoon to make it into the mid to upper 60s across the area, under mostly cloudy skies. Winds will be noticeable today, between 10-15 mph, with gusts to 20. Winds will turn and come out of the north tonight, dropping tonight’s temps quickly through the 50°s and tomorrow morning’s temperatures into the 30°s. Low tomorrow morning (yeah, I know the “app” strip below says Tuesday night) will be 33°.

This activity is moving our way.
“Severe” means 58+ MPH winds, one-inch hail, or tornado. None of that is happening when these storms arrive. The system will nerf on its way east, giving us rain and a few thunderstorms. (The reason has nothing to do with the Mississippi River, the Tennessee River, or whatever old wives tale grandma believed. The reason: dry air locally, insufficient instability, and weakening low pressure).
