The cold front that brought all of that rain passed through TN this morning. This leaves us dry with temperatures reaching highs in the mid 80’s for the start of your weekend. Dew points are down to the low 60’s and even hit the mid 50’s for Saturday. For the 4th, highs reach back up to the low 90’s but dew points still hover around 60 degrees! We have good news and bad news. The good news is, a cold front is coming through, so there will be lower temps and sunny skies. The bad news is we have to get through some rain before those cooler temps and sunshine arrive.
Scattered thunderstorms are in the works this afternoon… it’s become almost routine at this point. Credit goes to the daily 90+ degree temps that have been firing up showers/thunderstorms. They’re not going away just yet and neither is the humidity… for now.
I don’t know if you’ve heard already, but a tropical storm made landfall in South Carolina last night. What does this mean for us? Not much in the grand scheme of things. No tropical storm force winds or anything of that nature. It already fell apart over Georgia earlier this morning, but remnants headed toward us could very well be packing some “lift” that we lacked yesterday. Satellite imagery shows this convection building up to the south tracking northwest.
Expect a few pop up showers and lightning storms starting this afternoon. Some storms stay into the night but most fade away with the heat of the day.
Tomorrow looks the same with the afternoon pop ups. HRRR below has the same timeline with storms coming in early to mid afternoon and dissipating after midnight.
Dewpoints approaching 70° this week. A cold front (ETA Saturday-ish) will rescue us. Until then, sorry hair.
Isolated afternoon showers may be somewhere in Middle Tennessee today. It’s unlikely one will isolate on you.

Those out at local events today will notice temps warmer than yesterday as well as a bit more humidity, but nothing overly oppressive. Great weather for the Steeplechase event today as well as the Blackberry Jam Music Festival in Franklin.
Rain chances continue to dwindle for the rest of today and tomorrow–models are tending drier with each run. All the atmospheric features that were expected to bring rain are moving farther to the north and west of us. More cloud coverage today but not much else.
Temps have risen from earlier this week, so today is going to be hot. Dewps have risen too, but not to apocalyptic levels. It will feel sticky, not like you’re drowning. No rain today.
Dry trend should continue Friday. HRRR shows no rain in our area. Friday overall should be very similar weather wise Thursday.
Today will be the same as yesterday – slightly higher but not sweltering temps, low dewps, light wind. You can thank the low pressure trough spinning in east winds.
Unfortunately, the trough will head east Thursday and our winds will turn south. That means temps and dewps will rise.
