To begin, the Flood Advisory for the Stones River (due to Percy Priest Dam release) remains in effect until 6 PM.

We’ll get a little rain tonight as a giant rain blob passes S and E of us. HRRR illustrates:

A powerful surface low will spin into Mississippi tomorrow and march NE, delivering a significant severe weather worry for those in south MS/AL.

We know, everyone is dying to see if the snow chances are increasing or decreasing for Wednesday night. BUT FIRST we have a couple days of rain to get through!

A cold front will shove in some rain then pass by tonight, sweeping away the rain and dropping temps for Monday and Tuesday. It won’t be that much cooler, just “cooler” relative to this unseasonably warm spell.

A weak boundary is draped across the region, and may set off a few light, brief showers tonight. But, probably not.
Overnight, and into the early morning hours, low pressure will scoot by and spread some rain in. HRRR model shows it gathering in the wee morning hours:

Winds will be out of the south due to a surface high pressure to the east of us.

A southerly wind will really settle-in overnight. Skies will stay mostly clear through the morning hours & lows will fall to the mid 40°s.

Nashville stays quite chilly today, but temperatures will be climbing back to near-normal Thursday and above average temperatures are expected for the weekend.

The rain should pull away by 9 PM. Here’s the HRRR’s prediction:
Notice the snow at the TN/KY line. As the precip moves out, there is a possibility we’ll briefly see a little sleet/snow mix north of I-40 tonight — we are already below freezing at 5,000 feet. No local accumulation or travel problems expected.
