Sunny Skies To Start the Weekend!

Editor’s Note: Brendan’s Last Day

Today we say goodbye to one of our interns, Brendan Schaper. As you probably know, interns draft all blog content Monday through Saturday (Will, Andrew, and I have full time jobs and fuller time families). Our internts are meteorology students at Mississippi State University. They volunteer their time and work very hard to produce good information for you. Along the way they get better at communicating weather information; after all, writing is a muscle, it strengthens with use. Most of what you read from our interns is edited by me, Will, or Andrew, but I have not had to edit anything Brendan has done for more than a year. He is outstanding. He’s graduating this Spring and has a coveted job for the National Weather Service waiting for him. We are going to miss him. Thanks for the work, Brendan. We consider you a friend and look forward to seeing what you do down the road. read more

Cold Front Arrives Tonight, A Few, Brief Showers Possible; Rain Sunday

Finally! Morning temperatures in the mid to upper 50s!

Today: Warm with Scattered Showers

The high this afternoon will be 76º. Winds 15-20 mph, gusting at times to 35 MPH before the front arrives.

We are expecting a cold front tonight, giving us a chance for a brief shower sometime between 6-10 PM. There will be plenty of dry air, so any rain we see will be light; rainouts will be unlikely. Many of us may not even see rain, but before drawing conclusions let’s wait until this afternoon and check the actual radar to see how much rain we may get, rather than rely only on model data. I would not alter any outdoor plans right now. read more

Freeze Warning Tuesday AM, Then a Warming Trend; Rain (Storms?) Next Weekend

Good morning Nashville! We are entering a period of somewhat quiet weather after snow flurries in Williamson and Davidson Counties this morning.

Warmer Temperatures Through Wednesday

Temperatures ended up staying a couple of degrees above freezing this morning, however that is not a guarantee for tomorrow morning. Right now, the forecast is for 35º, only three degrees off of the freezing mark. Therefore, the National Weather Service has kept a Freeze Warning active for tomorrow morning, 2 AM to 8 AM. read more

No Chance of Avalanche Tonight; Spring Today-Friday; Rain/Storms Saturday; Cooler Sunday

No Chance of Avalanche Tonight

No hills in or around Nashville have snow. Not even Joelton has snow. Temps today and tonight will be dramatically above freezing. Therefore an avalanche has no chance tonight, anywhere in Nashville.

Today & Friday

Today and tomorrow will feel like the Spring we’ve been waiting on with temperatures that could warm into the 80s! That’s a sharp contrast to the chilly temperatures we had earlier in the week. read more
