A dome of high pressure has settled itself right on top of us. This will suppress rain formation and increase our high temps.
This afternoon we will hit the mid 90’s for most places around Nashville. Dewpoints will again be borderline oppressive (around the 70° mark). Heat Index values could easily reach 100°.
Early-morning clouds over over Williamson and Davidson Counties have disappeared.
Some puffy cumulus clouds are appearing over us, but they’re not blocking sunshine from reaching the surface.
High temps will reach into the low 90’s, with dewpoints remaining in the low 70s. It’s going to feel close to 100° this afternoon.

Yesterday’s frontal passage left us right on the fringes between two air masses. GOES-16 Water Vapor imagery (below) does a great job showing this: dry air can be seen as the warm, orange color; moist air is the cooler, blue color.
Today’s lunchtime thunderstorm is prompting forecast changes. We thought tonight would be rainy/stormy, but it appears this big thunderstorm has taken all the fuel needed to maintain storms later today and tonight.
NWS Nashville has placed Williamson and Davidson Counties in a Heat Advisory between 11 AM and 8 PM today.

The combination of heat and humidity will lead to an increased risk of heat-related stress and illness. The very young, the elderly, those without air conditioning, and those participating in strenuous outdoor activities will be the most susceptible.
