There’s probably one word that would describe “outside”, today: unpleasant. Afternoon temperatures, even with some intermittent cloud cover, are expected to reach into the middle 90s here in Davidson/Williamson Counties.
Thursday daytime appears to be pretty similar to the past few days with highs in the 90s and dew point temps in the 70s. Heat index values will once again be in the 100° to 105° range, so it will be another hot day. The majority of the day will consist of sunny skies.
While we won’t be seeing temps like last week, it is still going to be pretty hot and muggy over the next few days. Highs are expected to top off in the low 90s with our dew point temps stuck in the low 70s.
More afternoon “popcorn” storms are possible on Tuesday as the very weak cold front sitting to our north today sags southward. Severe weather is not expected.
Temperatures each day through Friday, thanks to abundant sunshine, should reach the lower 90s, too.
The official high at BNA today was 96°. We briefly reached 97°, but we were not there long enough for it to be official. The heat index got up to 106°.
Tonight’s rain event is mostly over. You have to look east or west for the heavier stuff. Here’s what the radar looked like at 8:00 PM.

It’s already really, really muggy outside. No surprise there. Dewpoints in the low 70°s will make being outside uncomfortable.
The heat index will run between 100° and 106° this afternoon; however, temps aren’t expected to get to 98° like they did a Friday and Saturday. Look for 96° today. (“Oh, is that all? Only 96°?) It’s not really going to feel cooler than Friday or Saturday.
At 10:00AM, the Airport is already at 89ºF. We are reaching for 98ºF once again this afternoon.
Our eyes will be on radar today as a few isolated showers may develop. These are expected mainly south and east of Davidson/Williamson Counties, but we can’t rule out a pop-up rainer here completely. Once the sun sets, these will quickly dissipate.
And it continues to be really hot.

High temps will start climbing into the mid to upper 90s range today and tomorrow. Along with these high temps will be dew point temps in the low to mid 70s. For this reason, our local NWS has extended our heat advisory through the daytime tomorrow.
The country’s mid-section is painted colorfully today — you can thank the NWS and extreme heat for that.
