Severe Threat Over, Flooding Concern Remains, Much Colder Next Few Days.

Our severe weather risk is over, but flooding concerns remain. NWS-Nashville issued an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for the middle of Nashville through 8:45 PM.

Light rain will linger then end sometime before midnight. We’re watching local creek and river gauges and will tweet any flood warnings issued by NWS-Nashville. It can take hours for flooding to occur. read more

The entire area will be at risk for flash flooding tonight when the heaviest rain moves through. Recent excessive rainfall saturated our soil and rose area rivers, creeks, and streams. Most of us received between three-quarters of an inch to an inch of rain around dawn this morning, which is why you probably noticed streams running pretty high on your way into work this morning. There were no flooding problems, but it’s obvious the ground is soaked, and anything that falls for the foreseeable future has no interest in soaking in. Rain will develop in West Tennessee early tonight. From there it’ll move into Middle Tennessee. Temps aloft will fall below freezing, transitioning a light rain to a light sleet, then a light snow. Models agree snow will come out of the sky before midnight, tapering off and ending around sunrise. read more

Some Concern About Flooded Roads Overnight, Much Colder Thursday, Low/No Consequence Snow Late Thursday Into Friday Morning

We remain under a Flood Watch through Thursday morning. Creeks are up tonight, especially Mill Creek from Nolensville north to the airport, even Stones River was up earlier near Donelson. More rain is coming through mostly south of I-40 between 9 PM and 10 PM in Will Co which won’t help matters. read more
