The forecast this morning was, um, well, yeah it wasn’t great. We thought the AM rain would sap all the water out of the atmosphere and prevent PM rain and storms from forming.
Wrong. (In our defense, we wrote it “should stymie any afternoon/evening development,” not that it “would,” but whatever, let’s call that what is was:
Slow moving rain is here with a few thunderstorms about to crawl through both our counties as I write this after 6 AM.
Lightning, obviously, is bad news. It’s cloud to ground and frequent in Ashland City and likely to move into Nashville and the most populated area in Middle Tennessee as you’re reading this. Probably many of you are reading this and it’s already happened, you slept through it, congrats!
That means ground level ozone concentrations may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. The general public is not likely to be affected. Active children and adults, and people with a respiratory disease such as asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor exertion.

Hello, humidity! Dew points are going to creep back up into the mid-60s today as high temperatures continue to creep up into the mid-90s.
Later today, a frontal boundary will begin to approach Nashville and middle Tennessee. It may stall out just before it reaches Williamson and Davidson County areas, setting up for a weekend of dodging showers and storms.
Hot, muggy weather is slowly returning.
Even though it’s getting hotter, today should be one final day of comfy humidity. Our high temp will easily move into the low 90°s this afternoon in Williamson and Davidson Co. Dewpoints will remain comfy in the low 60°s, making today to be the last comfortable day for most.
Up goes the mercury in Nashville. Today is going to be the warmest day this week as our warming trend continues. Humidity will be tolerable, some may find it comfortable. We are still in a dry spell, with only an incredibly low chance of an extremely isolated shower and storm somewhere in Williamson and Davidson Counties. (Editor’s Note: It’s not going to rain today).
Today will continue to feel pretty awesome! High temps will float around the mid 80s, with dewpoints comfy in the mid 50s.

Just sit back and imagine, rain-free, mid-upper 80º days in June… wait!
No need to imagine, that’s exactly what we are going to have most of this week! Just look at this:
High pressure is centered over central Missouri this morning. It will eventually move into the Tennessee River Valley by tomorrow, maintaining near-normal temperatures with comfortable dew points.
Waking up to a dewpoint of 71° is what you sign up for in Atlanta or B’ham or Florida or Gulfport Mississippi (gooooo mighty Admirals!) but here in Nashville that’s not cool. Upper 60°s dewpoints are fine, that was part of the contract we signed when we moved here, but I draw the line at 70°. I looked outside this morning and sweat formed on half my eyelashes and no one thought that was attractive.
Prepare for a sweaty day because it is not going to feel pleasant. High temps will be nearing 90, while dewpoints hover close to 70. That’s really humid. Most rain and storms have moved on to our east, but they left behind a pool of moisture right over Middle Tennessee.
