Today will be much like yesterday. We will be hot and humid, with a slight chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms after noon. The bulk of the activity will stay east of I-65, but a few brief garden variety thunderstorms are possible.

For the month, we were 0.9 degrees warmer than normal. We were over 90 for 19 days. We got as high as 97 (August 6) and as low as 59 (August 14).
We got 5.47″ of rain, which is 2.3″ more than normal.

Today – Afternoon Thunderstorms Likely– High 89
A (shortwave) disturbance is quickly advancing towards Middle Tennessee from the Great Plains. The National Weather Service has its ETA at or just after 1 PM. The HRRR is also putting the showers and thunderstorms in Nashville around noon.

A shortwave will increase our chance for showers and thunderstorms late tonight and early Tuesday. Scattered/numerous afternoon thunderstorms are expected across Middle Tennessee, which will be more likely N of I-40 than S of I-40.
Labor Day is expected to be rain free. One model (HRRR) predicts a mid-afternoon shower, but don’t let that dissuade you from your outdoor plans.

This morning, light rain was working itself into Middle TN from the SW. The heaviest rain will pass to our West, but we should still see a few light showers before noon. Morning activities shouldn’t be ruined. As of 9 AM, I didn’t see any lightning in the approaching morning showers.
