This morning we are looking at sunny skies with a few clouds. But as we develop into the afternoon, a few small rain showers, and thunderstorms are possible.
Independence Day Eve (Today)
Right now we are looking at mostly sunny skies which will continue throughout the rest of the day with temperatures continuing to rise into the low 90s.
A thunderstorm is possible in south western Middle Tennessee as the graphic shows, but the Nashville area is in the clear.

Current weather conditions consist of overcast skies and showers in the vicinity.
You can expect more rain and storms later today as instability and rising air become more favorable. Some storms could potentially be strong bringing gusty winds. The primary timing of these storms will be from 3pm tp 8pm. In the latest AFD, the weather service mention a possibility for gust winds late in the day. Some may be up to 35mph.

Up to 87 today, but reduced humidity compared to yesterday.
A few pop-up showers will be around, but you probably won’t get one. Maybe a few of you will. One could sprout between 1pm-10pm. A thunderstorm is possible, but unlikely.

Skies will be a mix of sun and a few clouds today with temps climbing through the 80s. We should see a high of 89°.
The dew point is at 65° today, which will cause that hot, sticky feeling in the air. The warmest, stickiest part of the day will be in the 3-6 pm time frame, improving after that.

This morning light rain is near Huntsville, Alabama, moving NNE and will pass to our east.
A few storms are expected to form this afternoon to our southwest, then move NNE. Exactly when and where, we don’t know because the models can’t be trusted to be exact, and the models vary by run.
Memorial Day isn’t Veterans Day. Memorial Day remembers those who died in defense of our country. We remember Army Spc. Jason K. Edens today. We remember him every year.
Alongside many of you I paused my Saturday on a warm day in 2012 to stand along Columbia Avenue in Franklin as the processional of Army Spc. Jason K. Edens passed by. I didn’t know him or his wife or his family and I still don’t know his family. But I decided as long as I have an audience – and I don’t hear from his family otherwise – that he would be the soldier we remember on Memorial Day.

Today (Thursday)
Look outside, it’s cloudy (then sunny). Already some showers rotated in from the west, around the low we’ve been tweeting about most of the week.
This afternoon after 1 PM, models predict these overcast skies will produce showers and thunderstorms, mostly north of I-40 in Nashville. The storms will be isolated, and the models think the storms will drift north and east, so they may clear our area by late afternoon. However, a few storms may develop right overhead, but the bulk of the rain and storms should move away as we go through the afternoon and night.
