Here we are on Monday, September 17, still talking about a storm that formed on August 30. Just wow.
Florence will continue to be the major factor in our weather pattern. Its counter-clockwise flow and constant cloud cover are cooling our high temperatures by upwards of 10 degrees today. Looking at highs only the low 80s rather than the low 90s.
Hot. Hot. Hot. That is the story of the day. High temperatures will slowly approach 90º with dew points in the 70ºs. Heat values will soar as high as 97º in some spots, so keep that bottle of water close by.
High temperatures are going to jump back into the 80s today. Those 70s as highs are over… for now.

Humidity will remain on the noticeable side, especially in the afternoon hours. Dew points will remain below 70, however.
Afternoon high temperatures in the 70s for the next two days?
We are in a brief break from summer, needless to say. In fact, tomorrow morning’s lows will be in the low 60s.

It’s still summer. Hot and humid.
Looking at a high of 91º in the city today with pop up showers and storms. Today is the type of day where we can’t tell you where and when due to their pulsing nature; it is something we just can’t forecast.
Tropical Storm Gordon made landfall last night just west of the Alabama/Mississippi state line. This morning, the center was located near Jackson, Mississippi and is working its way toward Louisiana and Arkansas.
Ok, everyone on 3… 1, 2, 3, Summer! Time! Pattern! Today is another day in the hot soupy mess. Temperatures will be approaching 90º for a high today with dew points in the 70º range. It will be hot, even in the shade today.
The sweat machine rolls on today… expecting highs in the low 90s today with dew points in the 70s (oppressive range).
The upper ridge (high pressure) that has brought us the hot and humid weather the past several days will begin shifting eastward as weak cold front moves southward into the Tennessee Valley, opening the door for rain.
Temperatures will increase today, tomorrow, and Wednesday, stopped only by the arrival of clouds and rain beginning sometime Wednesday. Expect high temperatures to be in the low to mid-90s with morning lows in the mid-70s.
Did you get a chance to step outside this morning? It was hard to believe it was still summer! However, by this afternoon you’ll have no doubt it is still mid August.
A High pressure system, the weather feature that was giving us this relatively cool and tranquil period, is beginning to shift to the east, making way for temperatures and dew points to rise. Humidity will remain comfortable for the time being as it will take a day or two for the dew points to rebound into the uncomfortable and oppressive range.
