Is It Really Summer? Showers Late Tonight Into AM, Then Awesome

By YK on Friday, July 26, 2013 @ 4:07 pm

Today – Showers Late – High 88

Clouds will be increasing this evening as a weak cold front approaches. It’ll rain, mostly while we sleep (or while a few of you party). Our NWS estimates 0.05″, which isn’t enough rain to mess anything up. read more

Unseasonably Wonderful Weather (Until Saturday)

By YK on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 @ 4:27 pm

Rest of Today – Cooling; Showers Possible – High 87

A cool front passed by today, setting off a few light showers and reinforcing the good weather we expect Thursday and Friday.

(Editor’s Note: Will and I not pictured. Not comment about The Intern). read more

Few Storms Possible Around Midnight; Cooler Next 2 Days

By David on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 @ 4:22 pm

Our NWS forecasts a storm-making frontal boundary will sink south tonight, setting off a cluster of storms around midnight. The HRRR model (not shown, because there is nothing to show) isn’t much of a believer – it thinks it’ll barely rain overnight. The RAP doesn’t predict heavy showers/storms, either. It’s unlikely these storms will be strong or severe. read more

Lunchtime Update on Severe Weather Chances Later Tonight

By David on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 @ 8:48 am

New model runs and a Storm Prediction Center update are in.

Storms are moving NW-to-SE today. The morning showers which moved south of I-40 are long gone, and there’s not much on the radar to our NW to cause any rain-out/washout concerns for outdoor plans later this afternoon and tonight. read more

Severe Weather Possible Tuesday; More Rain Wednesday?

By YK on Monday, July 22, 2013 @ 4:27 pm

Today – Thunderstorms Possible Very Late – High 75

The airport picked up almost a half inch of rain today. Rain and cloud cover conspired to keep us cool, but it was not cool enough to break the record for lowest high temperature: 68 set back in 1970. read more

Stormy Monday Morning; Severe Weather Possible Tuesday

By YK on Sunday, July 21, 2013 @ 5:16 pm

Today – Scattered Thunderstorms – High 88

Today we were set up for widespread afternoon pop up thunderstorms, and that’s what happened.

Afternoon showers should diminish after sunset, only to be followed by another complex of storms to move in from the west.  In-storm updates can be found on Twitter @NashSevereWx. read more

More Rain, Heat, & High Humidity Through Monday

By David on Saturday, July 20, 2013 @ 3:23 pm

First, another appropriate use of summer:

Tonight

We should be rain-free for most of the day. Rain and a few thunderstorms are forming along the Ohio River. HRRR at 8 p.m. tonight:

Those Ohio River storms will come south through Kentucky later tonight, arriving here around 11 p.m.: read more

Humid, Wet, & Stormy Weekend (but not a washout)

By David on Friday, July 19, 2013 @ 11:35 am

Saturday morning looks OK rain-wise, but Saturday night and Sunday look wet. Below, we review the entire weekend, model-by-model.

(Note: these are weather models, subject to error and revision. As we always say, use them for guidance, not Gospel. Also, read more than one). read more

Stormy, Wet Weekend

By YK on Thursday, July 18, 2013 @ 4:23 pm

First, some dudes doing summer right:

Rest of Today – Isolated Thunderstorms – High 92

This afternoon’s thunderstorm helped cool us off. We only made it to 92, instead of the forecast 95, but the heat index still hit 100 again today. read more
