It’s raining this morning at the Alabama/Tennessee border.
We think that rain will creep north.

Notice how this model lifts what looks like a pretty big blob of light rain through the morning, then by 1 PM, it vanishes. We don’t think it’ll happen exactly like that, but we do think the rain should be decreasing as it comes north. It may not even make it.

The weather might actually cooperate for the first Saturday night in what feels like an eternity. Temperatures will fall into the upper 70s area-wide and *most* of the rain should be well south of I-40 by sunset.

We saw a little rain today, but most of the heavy thunderstorms are developing over the Cumberland Plateau. Expect mainly dry conditions for the next few hours, but models are hinting at another line of storms overnight. Here’s the HRRR Model:

Partly cloudy skies expected through most of the overnight period. We may get a few more showers to develop overnight, but not expecting anything severe. Temps expected to drop into the mid 70s.
*The storm prediction Center has issued a severe thunderstorm watch effective this Wednesday afternoon and evening from 1:20 PM until 9:00 PM CT.

Afternoon showers/storms should be moving east towards the Cumberland Plateau, giving us an opportunity to dry out. Temperatures will remain in the middle 80s, but the dew points (what helps make the air feel “thick/soupy”) will be in the lower 70s. Ew.

Our Severe Thunderstorm Watch will expire at 8 PM, but rain and storms are scattered to our southwest, moving this way, and may impact fireworks shows.
Our Go/No thoughts on tonight:
A few rainers and storms are off to our SW. Can't say whether fireworks will be stormed/rained on or not. Unlikely *all* shows will rainout.
