Wildfire smoke is back. That’s what’s causing the haze in the air.

Three Things About Last Night, & Then Good News

Microbursts dropped out of severe thunderstorms.

Imagine a giant water balloon crashing to the ground. Now imagine you’re an ant on the ground. When that water hits the ground, it pushes wind away in all directions. Straight line winds race away from where the balloon hit and burst, knocking over trees. Microburst winds are intense. They aren’t tornadoes (no upward motion), but microbursts can do low-end tornado damage. read more

More Rain Today. Lightning Possible. Low Probability Flood Event.

Ah yes, the wet weekend we all hoped for continues.

We’re off to a hot and humid start this weekend. Dewpoints will climb into the low 70’s as the day goes on. Get your gills ready.

Hot One Today; Summer Time Pop-Ups This Week

Summertime heat is in full effect today as you can expect a scorcher. Dewpoints range in the mid to upper 60’s today, so it’ll feel sticky to uncomfortable, just the way we all like it.

Rain probabilities today are low. Scattered showers and pop-up storms are possible, but also entirely not possible. HRRR thinks the world’s tiniest showers could develop in the evening hours. If they do form and go over our area, it will be quick and nothing to worry about. read more

Keeping it Dry … For Now

Temps have risen from earlier this week, so today is going to be hot. Dewps have risen too, but not to apocalyptic levels. It will feel sticky, not like you’re drowning. No rain today.

Dry trend should continue Friday. HRRR shows no rain in our area. Friday overall should be very similar weather wise Thursday. read more

Today is going to be hot and humid. Dewps will hover in the upper 60’s. Thank Claudette-related tropical air for all the moisture in our area.

We aren’t getting Claudette’s rain, tho. Claudette never intended to visit Tennessee. It’s speeding away. read more
