From the afternoon forecast discussion from NWS-Nashville:
A “cold front will move through tonight and while there could be some scattered showers and/or thunderstorms, models continue to show the front being very diffuse in nature. This should limit coverage this evening, but one or two strong storms aren’t out of the question, so remain weather aware this evening.”

This morning, a shower and storm producing shortwave was crossing through Middle Tennessee.
As I write this, it’s south of us.
Afternoon rain and storm chances are pretty small. A few showers may freckle the radar. Tailgaters beware.

As I write this (before 5 PM), the rain we thought we may see tonight is heavier north and south of us:

Dry air aloft held off the rain this morning.
However, humid, rainmaking air is on the way from the SW. As mid and high level clouds show up, so will rain.

Clear, dry, and cool tonight. After midnight, we’ll dive into the 60°s.
The north wind we’ve had the past few days turns south, and starts blowing in warmer, humid air.

We are definitely feeling nice after that cold front swept through!
High pressure is moving on in which means drier air will stay in place today through the overnight.
The northerly winds are bringing in cooler air. Yay for no heat index! The dew point will stay in the upper 50s.

The lower humidity and pleasant temperatures will make for a nice evening.
As high pressure gets settled in, we will stay rain-free:
Lows tonight will drop into the low 60°s.
Tomorrow will be our reward for this week of rain and storms. It’s going to be awesome.

The Storm Prediction Center has our area under a slight risk for this afternoon and evening. The main threat will be damaging winds and heavy rainfall. The hail and tornado threat are very low.

Skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy, with temperatures falling to the mid 80°s.

As I write, 0.43″ is in the Official Rain Can at the airport. Cloud cover kept the temp from getting past 76°.
