Scattered rain activity and overcast skies in store for our counties. Chances are best this afternoon, but most won’t see anything. Those that do get storms likely won’t see anything severe with these, just brief downpours and the occasional rumble of thunder. See the HRRR below.

Rain Today & Driving Tips for Other Drivers
“Cooler” Temps in Exchange for Some Rain + Storms

Fog this morning mixed out fairly quick. Here comes another day of hit or miss showers/storms and a little less heat than the past few days.
Similar to yesterday, storms should start popping up sometime in afternoon, then slowly start to dissipate by sunset. It is entirely possible you don’t get any rain today, but if you do, a storm could contain some heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning. A storm or two could contain microburst winds, similar to what parts of Nolensville saw yesterday. Microburst winds cause damage to low-end tornadoes. They are can be difficult to warn on because they occur between radar scans. No organized severe weather or tornadoes are expected today, or the next few days.
Front Ushering in Milder Temps and Widespread Rain Coverage
Happy Friday the 13th! Today is like the disgruntled middle child caught between yesterday and tomorrow. Highs are on a downward trend to the low 90s. Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves now… dewps in the low to mid 70s could still give us our most beloved 100+ heat index. No more heat advisory, so that’s good news. Practice heat safety anyway.
Heat Advisory Continues Today; “Cooler” Temps Ahead
A heat advisory is still in effect for our area today 11 AM – 8 PM CDT. This portion of the blog will read similar to yesterday’s, but heat safety is important.
Heat indicies from 100 to 110 degrees are possible today. The past couple days have been miserable, we know. The NWS says today will be the “miserablest”. If you have to be outside in this heat, staying hydrated, shade, and air conditioning are key. A great graphic was included in yesterday’s blog about signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. It is included again below if you didn’t have the chance to glance over it.
Heat Advisory Wednesday And Thursday; Relief This Weekend
Heat advisory in effect for us today and tomorrow 11am-8pm CDT. What does this mean exactly? Heat indices ranging from 105 up to 109…. pretty miserable. Reason for caution if you’re planning to be outside. Plenty of fluids, shade, and A/C are your best friend. Important to know signs of heat exhaustion/stroke, so please give the graphic below a quick once-over.
“Yes, it’s going to be hot, but I think tomorrow and Thursday are hotter...” @NWSNashville
First, the rain chances.
The HRRR shows a clear day for us, with maybe a shower or storm popping up in random spots. Mid 90°s temps with a superhumid (for us) airmass — dewpoints in the low 70°s ugggghhh — is plenty of fuel for a pop up storm. Just going to be hard for one to form today. One clue: if it’s storming close enough to us in Kentucky, an outflow boundary will come flying south into town. That could create showers and a few lightningstorms. We’ll watch this and post updates on Twitter.
Low Probability Storms Today, with Low-Likelihood Non-Tornado Severe Probabilities (*updated, severe threat dropped)
Heat index up to 97° this afternoon. Same temps as the weekend but dewpoints over 70° will be to blame for making the humidity worse than it was this weekend.
A system of storms will be going through to our north, which could maybe bring us some pop ups in the afternoon/early evening, but it isn’t looking super likely.
