There is a very small chance of an isolated shower this afternoon through sundown. Don’t expect anything. THe HRRR model scatters showers just about everywhere except here. This is Monday 4 PM:

Tonight
A few showers, and maybe a few weak thunderstorms, should stream in from the SW, moving NW. Storms usually come from the opposite direction, so we call these unusually-moving storms “Crazy Ivans.” These Crazy Ivans will be off and on.
Today – Strong/Severe Pop-Up Afternoon Thunderstorms Possible – High 85
SPC (Storm Prediction Center) has posted a Severe Thunderstorm Watch to our northeast (in KY and parts of IN) until 9 PM. We’re excluded from the Watch, but the system creating the severe weather over there is the same one threatening us.
Storms are expected to develop this afternoon from I-65 east toward Knoxville. They’ll move NNW. This is illustrated by the HRRR, which is predicting what the radar may look like at 4 p.m. today. I put a box around Davidson and Williamson Counties.
Today – Sunny – High 85
It’s been a pretty awesome weather day as we all recover from Sharknado: dew points in the 50s, with temperatures only reaching the low to mid-80s. Feels like college football weather is on it’s way (it’s not).
First things first. SHARNADO!
Those of you following on Twitter know I’ve been way too excited for “Sharknado,” airing tonight at 8 p.m. on Syfy. I love terrible tornado movies (which means I love all tornado movies).
Today – Thunderstorms Possible – High 94
The heat index made it over 100 today.
Our NWS gives us a 60% chance for thunderstorms tonight and into the overnight. We are not exactly sure if we will get the full brunt of these storms, get clipped by them, or have them miss us completely.
Today – Pop-Up Thunderstorms Possible – High 93
There could be a few random blips of rain in the area today. Most of the action is well to the east, near Cookeville. We may see a few showers try to sneak in from the northwest later on, but the HRRR isn’t a believer on them getting here.
Tonight – High 88
Rain is starting to bubble up, mostly notably north of and in downtown. Classic summertime weather. This should diminish after dark. Patchy fog will be developing late tonight.
Tuesday – Pop-Up Thunderstorms Possible – High 91
Today – Drying Out Afternoon Maybe a Few Showers – High 87
Today’s rain appeared in east Tennessee (near Chattanooga). So far, nothing for us.
South winds will deliver humid air over the next few days. With that comes a slight chance for some isolated rain showers (but don’t bet on it today).
