Light showers will arrive through the day as “I-24 Specials,” our term for weather that comes down the tracks of I-24 from Kentucky. The HRRR thinks these showers will not increase in intensity on our radar scopes during the day. In fact, they may struggle as they come through. The 13z run of the HRRR through 9:00 pm:

I’ve always loved the rhythm of the seasons in Middle Tennessee. The cold, the heat, and the in between. Right now is the in between. Mornings are comfortable, but sunburns are on tap in the afternoon.
Wind gusts at Nashville International Airport peaked at 55 mph last night about 8:00 pm. Today, we retrieve trash cans, trampolines and drag tree branches out to the road for pickup (city folk) or to the brush pile (country folk).
This afternoon I searched “March snow” in my Google Photos, and several snow pics from March came up from years past. While March snows are not unprecedented for us, it seems a little odd. But, here we are… Let’s lay it out.
Severe weather isn’t easy for our atmosphere to create. For severe weather to occur, there are ingredients that must be present at the “right” place at the “right” time and at the “right” amount. If these ingredients don’t line up in place, time or amount, we’re left with less than. But, who’s disappointed?
SPC issued a tornado watch that expires at 7:00 am for a large area that includes Davidson County. Williamson County is excluded.
The model trend throughout the day Friday has been for storms to develop increasingly north and west of Nashville. This has become the case as the new year has begun.
The latest rainfall estimates from NWS Nashville put us in the 3-4 inch range with locally higher amounts possible through Tuesday night.
While heavy rainfall is possible at any point during the Flash Flood Watch period, NWS Nashville highlights two periods where rainfall could be heaviest.
No weather concerns to talk about through late weekend. Outdoor activities are a go!
A front will sag southward toward the Kentucky border on Sunday. The front will take advantage of some moisture and produce some isolated to scattered showers. Low-ish resolution Euro model illustrates:
Two tornadoes touched down in northern Davidson County on Tuesday morning, according to a damage survey by NWS-Nashville. The first along a W to E path just north of I-24/Joelton. The other along Lickton Pike/Old Springfield Pike/Hwy 41 just N of Goodlettsville. Both were EF-0. They both occurred within the tornado warning that had been issued and were from the same storm. The first tornado touched down, lifted, then touched down again as it moved east.
