We officially hit that above freezing mark this morning at 9 AM. At least for next 7 days, we do not expect to go below the freezing mark. Say goodbye to those freezing temperatures!
For the rest of the day today, we will begin to notice our skies becoming gradually cloudier.
Extremely Cold Temperatures Tonight, & Early Tomorrow Morning
While the snow has passed us, do not expect for temps to go above freezing until Monday. This weekend will be extremely cold, even with the sun shining.
We went to bed last night expecting under 1″ of snow along and south of I-40, with no accumulating snow north of I-40, as seen here:

First things first, our Winter Weather Advisory that covers both Davidson Counties and Williams Counties goes into effect today at noon and will last through midnight tonight.

This advisory DOES NOT MEAN we will get a lot of snowfall. We are currently expecting up to one inch but will likely see less than that. A dusting appears more likely.
Crisp, cold, winter air has arrived and looks to stay through the remainder of the week. Overnight we had our first front swing through the area, bringing in those cooler temperatures with it.
We will start the day today with a few leftover clouds that are currently pushing out of our area. By lunchtime, we should begin to see those partly sunny skies if not before then.
New Year’s Eve Forecast
We have been saying this for almost a week now, and unfortunately at least the daytime of New Year’s Eve appears to be a washout. Rain will prevail through the remainder of the afternoon into the beginning of the evening.
Sunny skies have quickly become cloudy skies as clouds continue to move into the area.

Showers and thunderstorms have also already developed to our west and can be seen on the current radar above. These showers/thunderstorms will continue to move towards us through the remainder of the afternoon.
If you’ve been outside today, then you have felt the warm, muggy air that is present and setting up just ahead of tonight’s cold front that is expected to pass through overnight.
Winds have stayed around the 15 mph and we’ve seen a few strong gusts here and there. We expect this to continue until the cold front moves through.
We have great news today as a new drought index was released this morning.
We have been downgraded from a severe drought to a moderate drought. We still are not in the clear of our drought issues, but we are making slow steps in the right direction.
