The clouds which ruled Sunday should shove off Monday, allowing temps to climb to 86. Humidity, however, will remain sane.

Tuesday will also be kind to us (no rain, high 88), but by Tuesday night, “return flow” begins.
We got a little rain out of the weak cold front that came through yesterday.

The cold front is now positioned south of the Tennessee border, allowing cooler, drier air to trickle in from the north.

Dew points are still hanging around 70, so the humidity hasn’t been eliminated, despite the nice breeze from the north.
Last night, we were talking about storms in Missouri which were forming along a cold front. That cold front is still working its way towards us, and the question was whether those storms being pushed in our direction by the cold front would dissipate by the time they arrived here late this morning.

Today will be much like yesterday. We will be hot and humid, with a slight chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms after noon. The bulk of the activity will stay east of I-65, but a few brief garden variety thunderstorms are possible.

For the month, we were 0.9 degrees warmer than normal. We were over 90 for 19 days. We got as high as 97 (August 6) and as low as 59 (August 14).
We got 5.47″ of rain, which is 2.3″ more than normal.

Today – Afternoon Thunderstorms Likely– High 89
A (shortwave) disturbance is quickly advancing towards Middle Tennessee from the Great Plains. The National Weather Service has its ETA at or just after 1 PM. The HRRR is also putting the showers and thunderstorms in Nashville around noon.
