Have you seen any snow today? These will not have far-reaching effects, except for closely resembling the inside of a snow globe.
Good news: We are expecting sunshine by tomorrow. Any light precip from the flurries tonight could leave a few unexpected slick spots on secondary roads tomorrow morning, but no widespread impacts are expected.
Update: If you have tickets for tonight’s Predators game, a few sprinkles are possible, but the heaviest rain has moved out!
Another Forecast Uncertainty, Explained
Tonight, cooler air will push into the region. Why is this important? Any leftover moisture from this system, wrapping around the backside of the low, could result in a mixed bag of precipitation (primarily along and east of I-65). Most models, as of now, are keeping this as all rain; however, to see or not see snow/sleet will depend on mid and low level air temperatures…something we’ll have to monitor this evening and overnight.

Rain will quickly end Friday morning, and then begins the rapid cool down. A cold north wind will take over on Friday, gusting as high as 20 mph at times.
The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Middle Tennessee
* Effective this Thursday night and Friday morning from 830 PM until 100 AM CST.
* Primary threats include… Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible
As I write this update, it’s 77°, but our dewpoint is a very-dry 33°. Dewpoints that low aren’t going to fuel any bad storms.
But, storms currently in Missouri will surf a thin wave of higher dewpoints arriving in Middle Tennessee late tonight.
Winds will become northwesterly and a bit gusty at times tonight into Wednesday.
Highs will still stay well above normal into the end of the week as southerly winds return. A storm system will begin to influence the area late Thursday into the weekend. Here’s the latest thinking from NWS Nashville:
Light showers are expected through the overnight hours into Monday morning. The HRRR model predicts light rain Monday morning:
Showers and gusty winds (up to 30 mph) on Monday will be a good indicator of warm south winds, ahead of our next cold front.
It is back! The good news about all these temperature swings is that you get to utilize your entire wardrobe.
Overnight will still be quite chilly, bottoming out in the 30s.
Sunday, clouds will be on the increase with highs in the middle 60s. Winds could gust up to 20mph from the south.

Temperatures will remain in the “near normal” category through tomorrow, until a rebound of warm, southerly air begins meandering towards us on Saturday. 60ºs are pretty nice for the beginning of March, and with how comfortable we have been, it is hard to complain.
