High pressure will continue to dominate. The winds shift from out of the north to out of the south by Sunday morning. This will really amp things up!

Ground level ozone concentrations may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. Mainly for children, adults, and people with respiratory disease like asthma should limit prolonged outdoor exertion.

We can all thank the upper level ridge sitting to our west. The dew point will be in the upper 60°s for the weekend, so it’ll continue to stay muggy. But not too muggy.

Another hot day in store for us! The NWS has extended the Heat Advisory through Monday until 7:00 PM.
A ridge of high pressure is still settled overhead of us and heat index values will be well above 100° today!

The temperature will be in the upper 90°s, and with dewpoints in the 70°s, it will feel like 104° at 3:00 PM today! We could see our heat index rise as high as 107°. Yikes! The Heat Advisory will last through Sunday at 7:00 PM.

A short wave will produce showers and thunderstorms for northern parts of Illinois into eastern Tennessee today.
The bulk of the rain is expected to stay east of I-65 today with heavy rainfall, damaging wings, and hail as the main threats. We remain drawn on the edge of the biggest risk area, but this area is often revised by the Storm Prediction Center through day, so it may shift (hopefully away from us).
