First things first, if you’ve seen new graphics, like the one above and see the new colors and think “Uh oh, are we more concerned now?” The short answer is no. Our messaging is still the same and hasn’t changed – we are still looking at a chance of severe weather overnight Friday with the main concern being damaging straight-line winds. Let’s take a deeper dive.
Rain should clear out in the next few hours; clouds will stick around all day to keep our temperatures somewhat down.
Tomorrow we get warm, some may consider it hot. High temperature pushing 80°.
We maintain our 15% chance of severe weather within 25 miles on Friday.
Now it is safe to say it is Spring, as at least for the foreseeable future, we won’t wake up to freezing temps.
Unfourtunately, rain chances pick up later today.
On/off rain chances begin this evening and will last through Wednesday afternoon. No flooding, severe weather, or really lightning concerns.
Spring officially begins at 4:24pm and it will feel like anything but spring today. BNA got down to 16° last night. Are we sure it’s supposed to be spring?
Tonight we’ll freeze again, but not so bad, official low is “only” 31°, although rural places will probably get into the upper 20’s. Last night below freezing for at least the next week. By no means am I calling it the last freeze of the season. Too early to call that. We can reevaluate…later.
One more Hard Freeze tonight into Monday morning, Just a normal freeze Monday night into Tuesday morning.
We finally begin a warming trend starting Tuesday. Rain chances will also return Wednesday.
It’s six days out, but the Storm Prediction Center has outlooked both our counites with a 15% chance of severe weather for Friday.
We’ve managed to dodged rain the past couple days thanks to dry air aloft. We’ll stay dry until Saturday evening when rain chances creep back in.
The HRRR model above only goes out as far as the loop shows, but showers are expected to continue through Sunday afternoon. Just some rain, not concerned about severe weather or flooding. We should stay dry Sunday night – Wednesday.
Really not much to cover here. Temps around average, some rain chances. No severe weather. Boring weather is good weather though?

Anyway, some rain chances come in around lunch, maybe sooner. There’s some pretty dry air sitting above the surface, so it may take a while for the rain to actually make it to the ground. A rain jacket or umbrella, and it’ll not be bothersome. Should clear out for evening plans/SEC tourney goers.
The temperature graph above lacks fun colors, and that’s because we will be lacking fun temperatures for at least the next week (probably longer). We’ll take a break from the 70’s and 60’s, and settle down to cooler temperatures, which, we’ll really be where we ought to be this time of the year. We’ve been getting spoiled with warm temperatures, back to reality.
Today will be nice, lots of sun and highs in the mid 60’s.
Majority of Wednesday will be dry until rain chances creep up in the afternoon and evening. Just some light showers.
Those rain chances will continue Thursday and Friday, looks like a break on Saturday, then picking back up for Sunday.
It’s March, temps have been/are in the 70’s, even pushing 80° today, could it be…an early arrival of Spring??
No.
Veterans will know this happens pretty much every year, around the same time. False Spring. And then a blast of cooler temps likes to come smack you in the face to remind you, that just because it is meteorological spring, does not mean it is astronomical spring.
