I have improved as a forecaster and writer while being the Intern 2.0. I have been able to cover weather for Nashvillians from the dog days of summer to the ice storm fondly known as #SnowBama. Rain is possible between 2 PM and 8 PM. An upper level disturbance coupled with a weak cold front will sink into Middle Tennessee during the afternoon. Below is a look at the HRRR model at 2 PM.

Thursday – Partly Sunny, Slight Chance of Showers – Wake Up: 49º, High: 69º
We will have a slight chance for showers throughout the day as an upper level disturbance slides south into Middle Tennessee. Below is a look at what the GFS model is showing between 7 AM and 1 PM.

Late This Afternoon and Evening – Big Storms Staying North, but Will Head Our Way After Dark
What a difference a day makes… Yesterday we had an enhanced risk for severe weather, but today we have been downgraded and placed on the border of a Marginal risk. The environment is most unstable to our north, and that’s where the strongest storms have stayed this afternoon, more around the orange bubble:

The cold front that moved through Middle Tennessee has brought drier conditions. It will not last.
Tonight will be the coldest of the week with temps dipping into the lower 40’s. Patchy frost is possible overnight into Friday morning.

We will finally have a pleasant day with temps in the 70’s, low humidity, and mostly sunny skies.

A low pressure disturbance originating from the Texas will begin to impact Middle Tennessee after noon as it moves northeast. The National Weather Service believes that the chance for showers and thunderstorms will ramp up after 2 PM. Below is what the HRRR Model is showing at 3 PM.

This morning’s thunderstorms have escaped east. Rain activity is expected to decrease tonight; only a small chance of an isolated shower remains possible (per HRRR model).
