Wednesday – Humidity & Rain Return – Wake Up 70, High 90
We will be in the warm sector of an advancing cold front for much of the day on Wednesday. This will cause almost-oppressive humidity, with afternoon highs above the seasonal norm. A tightening pressure gradient will cause winds to gust up to 24 mph.
Today – Sunny (Eventually) & Dry – High 88
A north wind will keep the humidity at a tolerable level. Sooner or later, the cloud deck will shove off and permit the return of sunshine. When that happens, temps should break into the 80°s.
We got a little rain out of the weak cold front that came through yesterday.

The cold front is now positioned south of the Tennessee border, allowing cooler, drier air to trickle in from the north.

Today will be much like yesterday. We will be hot and humid, with a slight chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms after noon. The bulk of the activity will stay east of I-65, but a few brief garden variety thunderstorms are possible.

A (shortwave) disturbance is quickly advancing towards Middle Tennessee from the Great Plains. The National Weather Service has its ETA at or just after 1 PM. The HRRR is also putting the showers and thunderstorms in Nashville around noon.

There’s a small chance a shower will pop up later this afternoon or early tonight. At 5 PM tonight, the HRRR has a few showers wandering around N of I-40. It’s possible one will stray over us, but it shouldn’t be enough to wash us out (NOTE: we’ve been very wrong about that before):

Today – Under the Dome – High 92
A dome of high pressure will help lift our high temps a few degrees above normal. This surface temp, pressure, and wind map produced by the GFS from 1 PM shows the dome of high pressure and a northeast wind (blue arrows).

High pressure will keep our temps today, and the rest of the work week, in the low to mid 90’s.
Humidity will remain uncomfortable, but not unbearable.
