Wattery Today, Hazy Later

Wattery chances will be mostly confined to those south of I-40.

HRRR model (above) thinks your best chance of seeing anything will be in the afternoon/evening, with chances dropping when the sun goes down, on my side of town. No severe weather concerns. Lightning, gusty winds, small hail, heavy rain are all possible, y’all know the routine by now. read more

Low Chance Of Damaging Winds This Afternoon/Evening

Severe weather outlook for today, June 4. Scattered strong to severe storms are possible this afternoon, mainly after 1 PM. The main hazards will be strong straight-line winds, localized flash flooding, and hail. The *majority* of storms will be over after sunset, but storms could hang on through 10PM in the southeast.

The Storm Prediction Center has outlooked both of our counties with a 5% chance of damaging winds within 25 miles.

The graphic above sums it up well but let us dive into more details.

HRRR model (above) agrees with the timeframe of 1pm – sunset, maybe lingering a little longer after. read more

Clapbacks, Throwbacks, and TheWatteryWillBeBack

I got a wide range of responses from my 90’s themed blog yesterday. I figured the bossman would call me into his office.

Little did he know, I was waiting for this, and had a response.

June Is Gonna June

Somehow, we are already into the sixth month of the year. And the weather is pretty typical for it.

  • No severe weather concerns
  • Lightning, gusty winds and heavy rain are possible, it’ll be brief though
  • If thunder roars, go indoors

We’re set up for a nice, but hot weekend. Temps will be the hottest they’ve been all year as they reach the lower 90s. read more

Good Way To Close Out May

A mere repeat of yesterday. We dodged Wattery chances yesterday, we’ll see if our luck (or bad luck depending on how you see it) continues.

  • Best chances to see anything will be afternoon/evening
  • No severe weather concerns
  • Can’t rule out lightning, gusty winds and heavy rain
  • If thunder roars, go indoors

Warm (Hot?), But Mostly Dry Start To June

  • Hottest temperatures thus far this year will come this weekend
  • Continued Wattery chances, but lower chances this weekend thanks to drier air
  • Dewpoints will be in the low 60s so not much difference in actual temp and heat index
  • Warm and mostly dry pattern continues into early next week

Today Turns Out Not So Bad, Solid Memorial Day

Not Too Shabby Memorial Day Weekend

Although not perfect, it could be a whole lot worse.

Wattery chances will commence shortly, and last through the evening. These would be brief, but could contain lightning, gusty winds, and heavy rain. If out in the pool or on Percy Priest, be prepared to get to shelter if needed. read more
