Strong to Severe Storms Possible Sunday Night/Monday Morning

Another fairly nice day. Highs near 90°, although dewpoints will cooperate enough to where the heat index will not differ much, if at all, from the actual air temperature. Plenty of sun, no rain expected.

As more data comes in, the more likely it seems that during the day tomorrow (Father’s Day), we stay dry. Although a stray shower/storm cannot be ruled out in the afternoon, it now appears most, if not all, of the activity will hold off until after dark. Good news if you are trying to get in 18 holes or some time on the water with dad.

However, we are still looking at low-end probabilities for severe weather late Sunday evening into Monday morning.

The Storm Prediction Center has us outlooked with a 5% chance of damaging straight-line winds within 25 miles. And while the tornado threat is very close to zero, it is not zero.

The overall thinking from models is that a line/cluster of storms will move in from the NW (I-24 Special?) at some point Sunday night/Monday morning. There is a decent amount of disagreement on the timing, along with the strength of the storms as they arrive. The latest HRRR model run from this morning is in and thinks this is what the radar could look like at 7a on Monday. Although long-range guesses from the HRRR don’t have the best track record, this just gives a general idea of things.

As more data comes in throughout the day, things can change. Updates will be posted on all of our socials as needed. Stay connected!

Plenty of uncertainty exists on Monday. A lot of what happens Sunday night/Monday morning will dictate what happens later on in the day. Will our atmosphere be able to recover and support storms in the afternoon? Unfortunately, there are more questions than answers right now. As confidence grows in regard to Sunday night, confidence will also increase for Monday. Embrace the uncertainty.

Tuesday and beyond, rain chances will stick around daily but will be much lower at around ~20%. Probably more dry days than wet. Temps remain around average for this time of year.
