Another hot one today. Highs will get into the mid 90s, with heat index values in the low 100s thanks to dewpoints near 70°. Again, certainly not unheard of here in the summer, but do stay hydrated and take breaks if you have to be outside for long periods of time. It’s been a while since it’s been this hot.

Rain/storm chances return tomorrow [Friday], but we are far from any guarantees.
A line of storms will be decaying as it pushes SE towards us in the early morning hours of Friday and isn’t expected to really make it here besides maybe a few showers.
Friday afternoon, storms are expected to re-fire right along and ahead of the cold front. The kicker is that models think most of the activity doesn’t get going until it’s already passed us – which would leave us mostly or completely dry.
The 12z HRRR model helps to visualize this:

However, there’s other possible outcomes. First being the morning round could hold together better than previously expected and make it here. Second being the afternoon round of storms could initiate to our NW, giving us higher chances at a storm. Although neither of these are currently expected, things can change as more model data comes in throughout the day.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed just off to our south and east outlooked with low-end damaging wind probabilities (technically far SE WillCo. is included in those 5% damaging wind odds within 25 miles, but higher odds are to our E).

We’ll be watching the latest trends and model data throughout the day and will keep y’all updated.
I think we might be able to get a dry day out of Saturday before medium to high rain chances return on Sunday and stick around for Monday. But there is still some variance in the models, so this could very well change. For now, outdoor plans on Saturday look OK, but certainly could use a backup indoor plan on Sunday.
Temperatures stay warm going into next week but not as hot as today, with humidity levels coming down as well.

Updated Drought Monitor came out this morning and shows no changes here with our two counties. Majority still in a Moderate Drought, although this does not account for any of the rain we saw Tuesday. We are making progress but still have a ways to go in our rainfall deficit.
