Today and Thursday Hottest Days of the Year (So Far), Rain/Storms Return Friday

Although we’ll be dry today and Thursday, they’ll also likely be the two hottest days so far this year (hottest so far is 92° on May 17-19).

High temperatures are likely to reach the mid 90s both days.

Those temps paired with dewpoints in the near 70° will lead to heat index values getting as high as 105°.

Certainly not unheard of in Middle TN in the summertime, but it has been a while since it’s been this hot. Please, stay hydrated and take breaks if you must be outside for long periods of time.

Rain/storm chances return on Friday as a cold front sweeps thru the area. Specific timing is still a tad fuzzy, but sometime in the afternoon is the best guess right now.

Thankfully, no severe weather is currently expected. But thanks to plenty of instability, along with high precipitable water values, a strong storm or two with some heavy rain will be possible. We’ll keep y’all posted as details continue to become clearer.

“Past Friday, there is not a whole lot of agreement in the models. Looks like rain chances will continue through early next week, but hard to say anything more specific than that.” says NWS Nashville

Generally speaking, lower rain chances exist on Saturday before increasing Sunday and lasting thru the beginning of next week. But this could very well change as models figure out what’s going on.
