Looking Drier Starting Next Week, Drought Improvement

We are close to a dry stretch of weather, not quite there yet.

Although rain/storm chances will be lower today, with most of the activity confined to our south, there is still a chance. Out of the next 3 days, today looks to be the driest. I will be mowing the grass today.

Friday and Saturday have similar set ups, with a stationary front draped close by, bringing in medium to high rain/storm chances, mostly from midday to early evening.

I’ll show the HRRR model for Friday midday thru night just to give a look on how things could generally play out, although the radar will not look exactly like this:

No severe weather is expected, although a stronger storm or two is possible with some gusty winds. Rainfall totals will differ by location, but generally 0.5 – 1″ of rain can be expected.

Those with outdoor plans should have an indoor place to head into and wait out any storms – when thunder roars, go indoors.

Our afternoon/evening rain chances will continue on Sunday and Monday, although lower chances than the previous days. Rain chances finally depart starting on Tuesday and next week looks much drier.

The new Drought Monitor came out today and does reflect our recent rainfall, with some improvement. Majority of our two counties are now in ‘Moderate Drought’ – much different from the ‘Extreme Drought’ we were in just a month ago.
