Wind Gusts Up to 50 mph Today, Thunderstorms This Evening Probably Not Severe

A Wind Advisory is now in effect until 6p Wednesday. Sustained winds in the 20-30 mph range are expected, with gusts up to 50 mph not out of the question.

With the winds coming out of the S/SE, travel (especially for high-profile vehicles) may be a little tricky on W-E oriented roads such as 40 and 840.

If you haven’t already – secure any loose outdoor objects such as furniture, trash cans, trampolines, etc. Can’t rule out a few downed trees/tree branches with some of the stronger wind gusts.

Winds will relax a bit tonight but pick back up again Wednesday. Although not as strong, gusts up to 35 – 40 mph possible throughout the day on Wednesday. These winds will be coming from the W, so traveling on N-S oriented roads may be a little tricky for high-profile vehicles.

Still expecting rain and storms tonight, but the chance for any severe weather is quite low.

The Storm Prediction Center still has us outlooked with a 5% chance of damaging straight-line winds within 25 miles. We are not outlooked with any tornado or hail probabilities.

Showers should begin sometime late afternoon/early evening. The heaviest rain + low chance for damaging straight-line winds will arrive along the cold front which should arrive ~8/9p, give or take an hour.

Rain/storms should be outta here by midnight at the latest. Rainfall totals ~ 0.5 – 1″.

Some sprinkles and maybe even some flurries will be possible Wednesday PM as some wrap around moisture swings thru. No accumulation expected.

Low rain chances return Friday evening and Saturday evening. Right now, this looks to be very light – no washouts. A rain jacket will probably suffice. More specifics on this in the next day or so.
