A couple of showers are possible thru this evening, but I think most of the activity stays to our west. Outdoor activities should be okay besides maybe a quick shower. You can always check the radar on our website: Radar | Nashville Severe Weather
Our weather for the rest of the week will be influenced by Helene.
Helene is now a Hurricane off the tip of the Yucatan peninsula and is entering the Gulf of Mexico. Helene is expected to make landfall somewhere in the Big Bend of Florida as a Major Hurricane sometime Thursday evening and bring impacts across the southeast.
While we will not deal with any of the storm surge or wind threat here, we could be dealing with some heavy rain from Helene.
As of right now, there is roughly a 50% probability that we could see at least 3 inches of rainfall thru Sunday night, with the majority of that falling Thursday night into Friday.
The WPC has outlooked our area with “at least a 15% chance” of seeing flash flooding within 25 miles Thursday and Friday. Although not expected to be a widespread issue, a few localized instances of flash flooding are possible, especially if heavier rain “trains” over the same areas. No river flooding expected due to how low the rivers are due to our ongoing drought.
The latest Euro model gives its’ best guess. Loop below from Thursday evening to Saturday night.
- more consistent, heavier rain most likely Thursday night thru Friday evening, then rain becomes more scattered in nature thru the weekend
- any outdoor activities Friday night and Saturday should have a rain-plan, too soon to know for sure though
- no severe weather expected, although wind gusts up to 35 mph will be possible as the remnants of Helene pass by
Updates to the forecast are possible! Continue to check back in for updates as they come in.
Rain chances diminish for the start of next week. High temps stuck in the 70s thru at least Sunday, but it’ll feel muggy.
