Very Little to No Impacts Expected from Monday Night Sn*w Chances

Some mist continues to stick around for the morning hours but should clear out here sooner than later. High temps will only reach ~40°. Prepare to bundle up if you are heading out to the Titans game, any other outdoor plans.

There’s been some talk about sn*w potential here Monday night into early Tuesday morning. This is our classic “cold air chases precip as it exits the area” set up. Those that have been here for a while know these types of events almost never work out for snow lovers, leaving most very disappointed. This is likely to fall into that category.

The image below shows the probability of seeing 0.1″ or more of snow thru Tuesday morning. The overwhelming majority of us have a <30% chance of this occurring, with the exception being far northern Davidson Co., with places like (of course) Joelton seeing a slightly higher chance at seeing a little snow.

At most, this seems like a very light dusting on elevated surfaces, maybe some grassy areas. Most, if not all, of us will wake up to just some wet streets. Even if you do get lucky and see a very light dusting, temperatures will make it above freezing fairly quick on Tuesday, melting anything.

I think the HRRR model (shown below) has a pretty decent handle on how things play out:

Again, if we do see any frozen precipitation, it would be very brief and provide very little impacts. We should be dry by sunrise Tuesday morning. I suppose we could have a few slick spots Tuesday morning, especially in northern Davidson Co., but most of the roads should be just fine, maybe a little wet.

Forecasting winter weather in Middle TN will always be challenging, and things could change – however, the overwhelming majority of models are all in agreement on this outcome. We’ll keep you updated.

Temperatures will continue to be below-average thru the rest of the week – hello December. Next rain chances come around Friday AM, and yes, for now this looks to be all rain.
