Brutal Heat Continues Thru The End of July

Another day, another Heat Advisory in effect until Friday 8p.

Heat index values will yet again be up around 105°.

High temps will drop only a couple of degrees this weekend, but this may be just enough to break our streak of Heat Advisories.

Temperatures creep right back by early to mid next week, and we’ll probably see some Heat Advisories – or possibly even an Extreme Heat Warning.

High temps will near 100° by the beginning of next week. Pair that with dewpoints in the mid 70s – we could see heat index values (“feels like”) in the 110 – 115° range.

With low temperatures only dipping down into the upper 70s – this will provide very little relief.

The GFS and Euro ensembles are pretty onboard with this idea.

Heat Safety

With this ongoing heat, it’s important to know the signs of heat illness.

If you, or someone else experiences any of these symptoms – take appropriate action immediately. Heat exhaustion, or heat stroke can occur quickly, no matter who you are.

Chances for an afternoon/evening shower or storm to cool us off remain fairly low. Daily chances mainly stay in the 10-20% range.

Not impossible, but not likely. Regardless, if you have outdoor plans – be sure to keep an eye on the radar. Summertime storms can popup quickly, don’t get caught off guard. When thunder roars – go indoors.

While the GFS and Euro ensembles both advertise brutal heat sticking with us thru the end of the month – they also show some decent news.

Beginning of August, models think our temperatures relax a bit – back around average towards the upper 80s. So, while it still wouldn’t be “cool” – it would be an improvement.
