It showed up today, sweeping away the humid air that’s been hanging around for weeks.

If you pay close attention to the above, you’ll see the humid air sink south of the TN/MS border, then surge back north of it. Although that’s disconcerting, we are confident our drying out trend will continue tonight, tomorrow, and Tuesday.
Several weeks we’ve been waiting for this. Waiting for an honest cold front, strong enough to scour away the rain and the humidity.
The cold front gets here today.
This morning’s heavy rain was pre-frontal, meaning, it’s the rain before the cold front comes through.

With the loss of daytime heating, rain chances will go down cooperatively. As long as we stay dry, tonight will be a beautiful night with temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s.

Our dreary day will continue as we enter the afternoon and evening period for Middle TN. Have some showers and thunderstorms scattered across the region currently with more to our North, West and South. Have had a few showers developing in our area this afternoon so we will keep an eye on those as we head into the evening hours.

So far today model guidance has not been much of any help at all. Starting to see some scattered showers around the Middle TN region, but so far not a whole lot has developed for Davidson and Williamson Counties.

Update: If you’re headed out to the Nashville Sounds ballgame, pack a poncho just in case. Rain chances are expected to be higher for areas northwest of us tonight, but a few straggling showers cannot be counted out.

So far so good on the radar with no showers around our area. Tonight will be much of the same as what could be said for this afternoon. May get a few scattered showers thrown our way this evening; as always, we will let you know if we see any showers developing that could reach us.
A humid, but not too unstable, airmass is atop us this afternoon. This means a few isolated rainers have been racing north. This will continue through the afternoon, then start to die down (but not completely killed off) overnight. Any rain we get will be of little consequence.
#1 That “H” in the Atlantic is known as a Bermuda High. High pressure suppresses rain chances.
#2 That “L” is a surface low. It has caused major flooding in Louisiana. It is pulling moisture in from the Gulf and creating a flash flood threat for those to our west and southwest.
