I have never been to Hawaii but I’m guessing this is what it feels like there today. Temperatures are headed for the low 70s again while you unwrap gifts. Humidity remains high (precipitable water values this morning are 185 % of normal), but that doesn’t translate to buckets of rain.
The record high for today is 76° set back in 1964. We won’t get there today (we don’t think), but we are running about 20° above average. Forecast high at BNA is 71°.
For Christmas Day, the record high is also 76°, set only four years ago in 2021. We should make it up to about 72° this year.
Scattered showers will continue to be on/off (mostly off) throughout the rest of today and Christmas Eve. Only very light totals, if any. Not really any specific timing, they’ll just pass on thru sporadically. An umbrella or rain jacket handy should suffice.
Stray, light showers will be possible starting this afternoon, with chances continuing thru early Wednesday (Christmas Eve) morning.
These look to be quick and very light. I don’t see any need to alter any plans, maybe just a rain jacket for any last-minute Christmas shopping or any holiday parties.
Astronomical winter officially started at 9:03a today, marking the shortest day of the year – sunset at 4:36p.
The good news is that the days will slowly get longer from here on out (until the summer solstice).
Not a bad Saturday weather-wise. High temps near 60°, plenty of sun.
Another dry day on Sunday but temps a tad cooler with highs only in the low 50s.
Monday, we start our warmup for the week.
We’ll get into the 60s by Tuesday, near 70° Christmas Eve thru Friday. We aren’t looking at any record highs (76° for Christmas), but ~20° above average sure is warm.
Today will be anything but toasty. High temps only reaching the mid 40s. We’ll get plenty of sun to help dry us out though.
Saturday will be a better day for outdoor plans compared to Sunday. Highs in the upper 50s on Saturday, only low 50s for Sunday. At least both will be dry.
First batch of rain should move out of here by lunchtime-ish, we’ll get a break for a couple of hours. In this break, we’ll likely see some non-thunderstorm wind gusts of 25-35mph. Be sure to secure any outdoor decorations.
Few quick + light showers possible thru lunchtime. Most of us will stay dry today though. Highs all the way in the mid 50s.
Thinking on Thursday’s very, very low chance of a strong storm or two remains unchanged.
