GOES 16 Satellite Loop
Sunshine, isn’t it wonderful!? We will have it on our side through Saturday, which, along with returning southerly winds on Friday, will warm us into the 60s on Friday and Saturday.
Afternoon temperatures today will push the 60ºF mark with decreasing clouds and more sunshine! Tonight’s “low” will be a bit warmer, hanging in the lower 40s instead of 30s like we have been dealt recently.
GOES 16 Visible Imagery Loop
A few high clouds will stream across middle Tennessee today, but overall, a beautiful day is in store for the second weekend in November. Temperatures will near the 60ºF for most places, especially in and around downtown.
That’s right, finally! Limited cloud cover will carry us through the first half of the Veterans Day weekend before rain chances move in. The pattern of off-again-on-again cold temperatures is expected to continue, with another cold front (albeit without rain) passing through tonight. While afternoon temperatures today reach into the lower 60s, tomorrow’s afternoon temperatures will be ~ 10ºF cooler.
UPDATED Latest HRRR Loop
After a 1.0″-4.5″ overnight last night, more rain chances return tonight thanks to a shortwave traversing the Tennessee Valley. Light-moderate rain will be possible, but nothing like what we saw 12 hours ago.
Temperatures this morning are quite warm for the beginning of November in Nashville. A renewed surge of even warmer air is expected to start today, thanks to southerly surface winds. It may feel like a distant memory after our couple of recent cold spells, but a muggy “Gulf of Mexico airmass” will move north, back into Tennessee, for the weekend and part of next week.
Rain during the daylight hours today is unlikely but more will encroach on the area late tonight/overnight. Latest observations at the airport have us near a balmy 69ºF at 11AM under mostly cloudy skies. The dew point is only ~9ºF lower at 60ºF, meaning moisture return from the south is definitely in play. You will feel the southerly breeze today, too, gusting as high as 20-25 mph, based on latest HRRR model data.
