Rain Chances Trending Down During Candy-Getting, For Now
Wednesday, October 28, 2026 · Elan
Our beautiful weather continues thru Friday. We need the rain, but if you put that aside, the abundance of sun with cool mornings and warm afternoons has been amazing.
We continue to watch the trends for our showers expected to arrive sometime Saturday PM/Sunday AM, with a lot on the line in terms of candy getting.
As of Wednesday morning, current trends are leaning towards dry candy getting, as models are showing a less amped/slower system.
Here’s a look at four different models and what they *think* the radar could look like at 7p on Halloween.
Out of the four models, only one (the GFS) thinks rain will be in the vicinity.
In addition, the National Blend of Models continues to slow things down as well, holding much of the activity off until closer to midnight.
This is good news, but nothing is set in stone quite yet. We’ll start to get input from the high-res models over the next day or so, and hopefully they can increase confidence in dry trick or treating, but they could point the other direction as well. Stay connected!
In the instance of the rain holding off for Halloween, that would likely leave us with scattered showers during the day on Sunday, tapering off during the afternoon-ish. Not expecting any thunder/lightning regardless of the arrival time. Hoping to get some decent rainfall totals from this, but only around 0.5-1″ currently expected.
Next system looks to arrive sometime by the middle of next week, bringing more much-needed rainfall.
Don’t forget that we “Fall Back” early Sunday morning. An extra hour of sleep in exchange for a 4:50p sunset that night.
