Drought Continues to Worsen, No Rain Anytime Soon
Thursday, October 22, 2026 · Elan
Our stretch of lovely temperatures continues. Cool mornings with warm afternoons is a great combo in my opinion.
Our average high is about 70°, so we sit slightly above that, but far from what I would consider hot.
Temperatures will stay incredibly consistent over at least the next 6 days. I hope you like it.
Another thing that will stay consistent will be our rain forecast – and lack of it.
Still no legit rain chances in thru at least Wednesday, and likely creeping into the end of next week.
So, when does the rain return? Well, it’s hard to say for sure.
Ensembles generally agree that there will at least be some sort of signal for rainfall sometime in the Oct 31 – Nov 2 timeframe. Of course, this is really far out, so confidence is incredibly low.
We could use the rain, but it would be nice if it could at least wait until after Halloween. But it would make a lot of sense for it to not rain for a while, then it returns on a day like Halloween.
And speaking of lack of rain, the updated drought monitor came out today and unsurprisingly, showed worsening drought conditions. The next one will likely follow the trend.
Trending worse (as expected) in the drought map this week. Extreme drought for a good chunk of us. But, moderate drought still hanging on for those in N Robertson/Sumner and E Wilson. Grats to y'all! Still no rain in the 7 day forecast. pic.twitter.com/reJjB8EUA3
