Worsening Drought, Fall Weekend Ahead
Thursday, October 15, 2026 · Elan
Just one more day of this record-breaking heat to get thru.
Today will likely be the 4th consecutive day we break the daily record high.
Forecast high for today is 92°, the daily record high is 89° – so odds are in favor that the record falls.
However – speaking of “fall” – we get a taste of it this weekend.
Friday morning v. Friday evening will be two different worlds.
Our high temperature Friday will be in the low to mid 70s, however, that will occur in the wee hours of Friday morning. We could see a quick shower as the front pushes thru Friday AM, but most will likely stay dry.
As you walk out the door in the morning to school/work, temps will be near 70°, by the time you walk out – we’ll be near 60° with considerably lower dewpoints. A brisk NW wind will help usher these drier and cooler conditions in, be sure your Halloween inflatables are secured, or they may scare you by ending up down the street.
Saturday we wake up to temperatures in the low to mid 40s. We’ll struggle to get to 60° that afternoon.
Can’t totally rule out some patchy frost Sunday morning for some, especially those in more rural areas. Temps will get all the way down to the mid to upper 30s. Nearly a 60° difference from this afternoon.
High temperatures will gradually increase throughout next week. It’ll be the typical need a hoodie in the morning but lose it by the afternoon ordeal by the middle of next week.
No legit rain chances over at least the next week.
Which is not great news for our continued worsening drought.
A good chunk of Davidson and Cheatham is now in an Extreme Drought, with Moderate to Severe elsewhere. This will likely get worse before it gets better.
