Gusty Winds, Beneficial Rain on Saturday from Isaias
Friday, October 9, 2026 · Elan
Although clouds have begun to spread over our area, and will continue to do so throughout the day, it’s still a fairly nice day. Thanks to the clouds (from Isaias), not sure we get to our forecasted high of 87° – but regardless, still a warm day.
Any impacts we see from (the remnants of) Isaias seem to be confined to Saturday.
Fairly widespread rain will likely arrive prior to or around sunrise, continuing thru lunch time. After lunch, activity will become more scattered in nature, with on/off showers lingering around the remainder of the day.
The HRRR model gives a guess below. The radar won’t look exactly like this, and it’s impossible to know exactly when/where those breaks in the rain come tomorrow. For those with outdoor plans, including Ole Miss v. Vandy goers, plan for some rain and gusty winds.
Which speaking of gusty winds, that seems to be our “biggest” impact from this.
NWS Nashville went ahead and issued a Wind Advisory for all seven of our counties, that will go from 4a to 8p on Saturday. Sustained wind from 15 to 25 mph will be likely, with gusts up to 45 mph possible. Today is the day to go ahead and secure your outdoor furniture, Halloween decorations, trampolines, etc. I don’t foresee any widespread tree/power line issues with this wind, especially with how dry our ground is, but can’t totally rule out an isolated instance.
Unfortunately, expected rainfall totals have continued to slightly decrease as the track of Isaias continues to gradually shift east.
Generally, 0.5 – 1.5″ is expected over the area during the day on Saturday. Some locally higher totals are possible, which is the reason we still have a Flood Watch that goes into effect early Saturday morning – but given current trends, any concern for flash flooding is very low. We will certainly take all the rain we can get.
Any concern for spin-up tornadoes in the outer bands of Isaias continue to be well off to our southeast. With the position of the low-pressure, we just won’t really see any instability, which will be confined to the FL Panhandle, GA and the Carolinas. This could change if the track shifts west, but this isn’t a current threat for us.
This is the latest, best guess we have as of Friday afternoon. As always, things can change, and we’ll post updates on all of our socials as needed today and throughout the day tomorrow. Stay connected!
Thankfully, we will avoid any significant impacts here in Middle TN, but the same cannot be said about folks on the Gulf coast. If you know anyone down there, be sure to give them a shout and make sure they are doing okay. Isaias will pack a punch.
Besides a few lingering showers during the first half of Sunday, things will be dry. Wouldn’t hurt to bring a poncho for the Titans game, but you may not need it.
We get a break from the borderline hot temperatures Saturday and Sunday, but that’s about it. Well above average temperatures return by Monday. The start of next work week will be dry.
