The next 7 or so days will be a tale of two different stories. The first half will be something we have grown accustomed to over the past month-ish. The back half will be something we are not used to – recently at least.

Today thru Thursday will be an all too familiar scene – dry with above average temperatures.

Granted, it’s not the upper 90s we dealt with for what seemed like an eternity but was “only” the first 3 weeks of September.

Our average high this time of year is roughly 80°, so we’ll be about ten degrees above average Tuesday thru Thursday.

It has now been over a month since BNA last recorded measurable rainfall (August 26th).

Our longest streak on record without measurable rainfall is 36 days, we will probably at least tie that. Not a good record to be threatening but here we are.

The good news is that rainfall, and perhaps healthy amounts of it at that, are in the forecast.

Medium rain chances return to the forecast on Friday and stick around thru at least the beginning of next week. There are still some discrepancies in the models, which is to be expected still ~5 days out. However, majority of them show a pretty decent signal that rain will finally return. Unfortunate it happens to be on the weekend, but we play the cards we are dealt.

These amounts could certainly change, and probably will, but the current 7-day precip total from the Weather Prediction Center shows some amounts we haven’t seen since July.
