I do finally have good news, but I’ll get thru the bad first.

Our Heat Advisory now goes thru Sunday at 7p.

Actual air temperatures (in the shade) will continue to be near 100°, with humidity sending heat index values near 105°.

Whatever you have planned for this weekend, account for the heat in your plans, especially if it’s in the afternoon and early evening. Stay hydrated and take frequent breaks. Just because it’s September 18th, doesn’t mean heat-related illness can’t occur. And never, ever, leave a child or pet inside a locked vehicle.

If there is any positive to this, it’s still pool weather. Great way to beat the heat will be to be near a body of water.

There is finally some relief in sight.

Our heat dome is expected to finally subside, allowing for some relatively cooler temperatures to leak in here by the middle of next week. This isn’t written in ink just yet, but models are generally favoring this solution. Fingers couldn’t be more crossed.

Highs in the mid 80s are still right around average but will feel a million times better than…this.

The other issue besides the heat is how dry we are. Unfortunately, we still haven’t figured that one out just yet.

We could see a stray shower/storm Saturday afternoon, but those chances are very low (~10%) and the majority of us will likely stay dry.

Next meaningful rain chances are still expected to come thru Monday afternoon/evening and then again Tuesday afternoon/evening. Chances sit around 50%, so it’s not a slam dunk. Rainfall totals will generally be around 0.25 – 0.5″, which is better than nothing, but it won’t make any serious progress in our worsening drought.
