Temperatures Near 100° thru Sunday, Where Is Football Weather?

This forecast would be impressive even in July/August, and the fact that it is September 17th makes it even more impressive.

Impressive as in, brutal.

Heat Advisory continues thru 8p Saturday for heat index values near 105° each afternoon.

High temperatures will probably be 98°+ over the next 5 days – likely tying or breaking at least a few more daily record highs.

Any outdoor plans you may have this weekend will be scorching hot. Please take precautions against the heat, just because it’s mid-September, doesn’t mean heat-related illnesses can’t happen. Stay hydrated and take breaks indoors.

When do we get a break?

Models continue to suggest temperatures will fall into the upper 80s at some point by the middle of next week. Upper 80s is still above average, but that will feel way better than this.

Despite how brutal this heat is, sooner than later, we’ll be waking up to temperatures in the 40s and forget this ever happened.

Now, when does it rain?

A few, quick showers cannot be ruled out this afternoon, but underneath the strength of this ridge, it’s not likely.

The next meaningful rain chances come around Monday and Tuesday. The bad news is that this doesn’t look like much rainfall. Perhaps some showers, maybe a thunderstorm at some point during the afternoon and evening.

Rainfall totals over the next week likely around 0.25 – 0.5″, better than nothing, but it’s not much.
