Our average high for September 15 is 83°. We passed that at 9a this morning.

Our forecast high is 100°, which would break the daily record high of 98° set in 1927. If we do hit triple digits, it would also be the second latest instance of us doing so (latest is September 21, which we did in 2022).

A Heat Advisory will start at 11a this morning and go thru 8p Wednesday, and I could see it getting extended another day or two.

This combination of temperatures + dewpoints will send heat index values into the 105-108° range. Not that crazy for late July, except it’s the middle of September…

We’ll threaten daily record highs every single day thru Saturday, thanks to temperatures in the upper 90s.

There is at least some good news, and that models are hinting at temperatures starting to break a little starting sometime early next week. They suggest we may finally get a break from the 90s with highs in the mid to upper 80s, which is technically still above average but at this point, anything is better than this.

Essentially no rain chances this week. The HRRR keeps throwing in some random stray showers in the afternoon over the next two days, but I think this is just wishful thinking.

The next meaningful rain chances don’t come around until early next week, coinciding with our “cooler” temperatures. It doesn’t appear that it’ll be a substantial amount of rain, but anything is better than nothing.
