Welcomed showers have started early this morning, as local crunchy grass rejoices.

These showers will likely come to an end before lunch when we get a break in the action.

Then, additional showers and storms will be possible later this afternoon and evening. Overnight, the Storm Prediction Center added us to a 5% chance of damaging straight-line winds within 25 miles. This is just to account for any storms that may briefly pulse up and reach severe criteria (58mph+ winds). Not expecting any widespread issues, no tornado concerns.

FWIW, the HRRR model thinks the majority of us stay dry, and that’s certainly possible. Don’t think everyone sees a storm, or even rain. However, if you do see a storm – heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds will all be possible.

We’ll be keeping an eye on things all day long, sending out updates on all of our socials as needed.

Friday will also carry medium chances (40-50%) of scattered showers and storms in the afternoon and evening. Currently, no severe weather is expected.

Any storm could contain heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds. We are currently not included in any sort of severe weather probabilities. Those with outdoor plans, including FNL-goers, should keep an eye on the forecast. Don’t see any widespread issues, but some games running into some lightning delays are a possibility.

Saturday carries the highest rain chances out of the next week, with high (60-80%) chances, starting off early in the morning going thru Saturday afternoon.

High-res models aren’t quite in range yet, but based off current model guidance, it appears we may see one or two waves of showers/storms throughout the day. Certainly not thinking it rains the entire day, and we’ll see some breaks in the action for sure. No severe weather currently expected, but any storm could bring some rumbles of thunder with it.

The good news, rain chances drop off around dinner, and any evening plans should be good to go. Of course, things can always change, and we’ll keep y’all updated with the latest info as it comes in.

While we will see some rain over the next 3 days, totals don’t look totally impressive. Generally, around 0.5″, more or less depending on if you see a decent thunderstorm or not. While this is better than nothing, it probably won’t do a ton to our worsening drought conditions.

The Titans season opener on Sunday will be a dry one, but hot one. Temperatures at kickoff will be in the upper 80s, getting into the low 90s by half. Those are the temperatures in the shade, so the sitting in the sun will feel worse.

At least while your sweating, you can watch The Warden do his thing.

I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is that over the next week, our above-average temperatures go nowhere. Highs will be in the low to mid 90s every day. At least we’ll stay below Heat Advisory criteria?

The good news is that long-range ensembles are finally picking up on a cooldown. It’s a way out, so this is a pencil in, nothing in ink.

Sometime around next weekend (18-20), we should finally see a pattern change, with highs closer to average. We still have some heat to get through, but perhaps actual Fall weather is close.
