We stay dry today while we continue to bake in the heat.

There’s a Heat Advisory in effect for Davidson (Williamson excluded, but it’ll still be hot) from 11a to 8p today.

High temps in the mid 90s with dewpoints in the upper 60s will send heat index values near 105°.

While thankfully it won’t be as hot as last week, it’ll still be uncomfortably hot – and dangerous if precautions aren’t taken. If you have to be outside for long periods of time, please continue to take it easy. Stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks.

Unfortunately, models show no sign of temperatures getting any cooler within the next 7 days.

Our average highs this time of year are in the mid 80s, and we’ll be stuck in the low to mid 90s.

Long-range ensembles may perhaps be hinting at temperatures cooling down somewhat in about 10-ish days, but this is far out there in terms of model accuracy and should be taken with less than a grain of salt. We can at least remain hopeful in the meantime.

Our dry start to September will likely be broken on Thursday as rain chances return.

It doesn’t look like much, with scattered showers, perhaps a thunderstorm, possible throughout the second half of the day, but it’s better than nothing.

HRRR model (below) gives its guess, perhaps some showers in the morning as well. Not expecting any rainouts nor severe weather.

The cold front that brings our rain chances on Thursday will stall out around the area, keeping rain and storm chances in the forecast Friday and Saturday.

This will mainly be in the form of Wattery-style, scattered showers and storms each afternoon and evening. Some may stay dry, and some may see a decent shower or general t-storm. No severe concerns at the time.

Still not expecting any washouts either day, although a few lucky folks could see some decent rain underneath a thunderstorm. Those with outdoor plans should keep an eye on the radar, when thunder roars – go indoors. Not expecting too many, if any, issues with FNL games.

Rain chances really drop off on Sunday. Titans season opener will likely be dry but can’t totally rule out a stray shower or storm. Temperatures stay hot, with temperatures in the low 90s throughout the day – and that’s in the shade.

Rainfall totals thru the weekend will generally be around 0.5″, it’s not a ton but it’s better than nothing as we try to continue and cut into our rain deficit.
